Heavy Trash / Dumpster Day

Begins: 11/2/2024 - 8:00 am
Ends: 11/2/2024 - 12:00 pm

Geneva is pleased to announce our heavy trash day guidelines. We will have at least five forty-yard dumpsters available for your drop-off of heavy trash. These dumpsters will be located at the Town’s Compost Facility at the south end of Hale Street. The gate will open at 8:00 AM and will remain open until 12:00 Noon. Anyone in line at Noon will still be allowed to drop off their trash. With this event there some simple rules that must be adhered to.

  1. You must be a citizen-resident of the Town of Geneva and must be current on your Utility Bill. This requirement will be checked and verified at the gate.
  2. Load size is limited to the equivalent of one pick-up truck load.
  3. If you are a renter and your Town Utilities are included in your rent, you will need a letter from your property’s owner.
  4. No commercial or business trash.
  5. Property owner construction materials are limited to no more than one pick-up truck load.
  6. No whole tires, wet paint or other hazardous materials will be accepted.
  7. Any appliance item containing refrigerant must empty.
  8. No concrete or dirt.
  9. Any brush, leaves, yard waste, clean used lumber, etc, is allowed but will be dumped on the compost pile. This will not count against your heavy trash.
  10. Curbside pick-up will be on a very limited basis and by appointment only. However, we will not be coming into a home to remove an item. It will have to be either in your garage or by the street on the day of the event. You will need to contact the Town Hall for approval and to make arrangements for pick-up.
  11. If you are in line at 12:00 Noon but have not yet dumped your load, you will still be able to do such. Also, if you are in line and the dumpsters are full, you will still be able to unload.

While we wish we could have maintained a dumpster all summer, it is a sad fact that it was being abused by other than authorized people and thus had to be shut down. We realize the inconvenience this caused to our citizens but it needed to be done. We want to assure you we are working on a plan so something like that doesn’t happen again.

We are also looking for volunteers to assist us in this event. If you have a little spare time on Saturday, November 2nd, please contact Trent at the Town Hall, 368-7251 or Lynn at 525-1182. You can also call these two if you have any questions not covered here.

Thank you for your understanding and your assistance in helping us polish this little gem of a town we call Geneva, See you November 2nd.
